Budget & Properties Committee
August 2010
Dear Parishioners,
Your Budget & Properties Committee is pleased to present the Budget for the new Church year, which began on July 1, along with the financial results of the year that ended on June 30th.
You’ll recall that this committee was formed in the Spring a year ago to review Parish finances, prepare budgets, make recommendations
to the Pastor and report to you. Also, at that time, the Cluster’s Business Coordinator, Denis Lafreniere, began his service to the Cluster so
that the Priests could be somewhat relieved of the non-religious aspects of managing our Churches.
In our Cluster, our Parish Revenues are completely used for the benefit of St. Peter’s Church as each Cluster Church utilizes its own revenues.
Many expenses are still directly related to each individual Parish, but many administrative and contractual expenses have been consolidated at
the Cluster level to reduce costs. Much progress has been made in the past year in reducing costs and more will take place as the Cluster moves
forward.
Our St. Peter’s finances are divided into 2 areas: our buildings and our operating budget. As discussed in previous reports, some years ago
a group of parishioners, at their own financial risk, purchased the building adjacent to the Church. The rent from this building is set aside for
taking care of the Church’s properties. The foresight of purchasing this building is a great benefit to St. Peter’s.
The Operating portion of the budget is the part that reflects our Offertory Contributions and supports the day to day operation of the Parish.
This includes paying for our priests, music liturgy, faith formation and religious classes, the lights and heat, and support for our all important
Catholic schools and for the services provided by the Diocese.
As the accompanying financial report reflects, in the past year we had a total offertory of $142,208, but ended the year with a $24,517 deficit.
Our new budget calls for a total offertory of $152,292 in order for the Parish to pay all of its expenses. Unfortunately, the Cluster has lost two
priests, but this results in a cost savings and with the savings being generated through the Cluster, our additional need for this next year has been
held to only $10,000.
We realize these are still difficult economic times and many of us are on tight personal budgets and fixed incomes. If you can possibly make a larger
offertory contribution, thank you very much. Also, please remember that as you speak with relatives and friends who previously attended St. Peter’s
or are looking for a Parish to join, ask them to try St. Peter’s. We are a very exciting and active community.
The Committee will be reporting to you again in the early Fall. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact any of us or drop a question or
comment in the collection basket and we will be glad to contact you.
Thank you for all your support to our Church.
Committee Members: Lou Croce, Tony Decker, Mark Hutchins, Pat Lapomarda, Tom O’Connor, Vic Pizzuto
